Pink and Brown Inchies

6 inchies I made for a swap. The theme was pink and brown. I really like the crinkly bright pink tissue paper, it was a super super easy way to add texture. :D I also love the Japanese book I just bought. I don't know what it says, but it makes pretty collage papers. I love how the cupcake turned out, too. :)

Mini-book

A mini-book made from a double-sided 12x12 scrapbook paper. I made it for a swap on swap-bot. This was the first page, inside the red pockets was a rainbow of ATC blanks, and the little doll below.

I made her/him! They're so much fun to make. Just wire and floss, plus a tiny tiny scrap of cloth, and a bead. This guy is about 1 inch tall minus the hair.

This is an ATC that was in one of the pages of the mini-book. The paper is kinda sparkly, if you can see it.

The last page in the mini-book. There were 2 other pages, but the first and the last are the best. The little house pulls out, and says Let It Snow on it.
The front cover of the mini-book, with another little doll. :)

Anubus & A Bulbous Bouffant

This is an ATC I made for a Halloween swap on swap-bot. I just love how the "ghost" turned out. :D I love the kinda jackel-shape it has, like Anubus. It was an accident, but totally fitting!

Just another seahorse ATC I drew. The seahorse is tinier than normal, though, so I had more room to add seaweed and currents around him.

This is for an ATC swap on swap-bot. The theme was purple mermaids. I like her "bulbous bouffant" hairdo!

Witch ATC Swap

I drew both these ATCs for a Witch Swap on swapbot. I love how this one's hair turned out, I suppose with dreadlocks or beads in it. :) The cat I also really like, except for the fact its sorta floating above the grass...

This one has awesome creepy leafless trees. and cute little freckles! Or maybe they're worts on her nose?

Altered Text ATCs

These are two ATCs I made back in June for a swap on swap-bot. There were a series of swaps, all altered-text, with each swap being a different color. This was the black swap. I like the layout and aesthetics of both, and especially the bottom one. The book pages came from one of Frank Herbert's Dune books.

Sparkly Inchies

I made some inchies today, with pretty fall leaves and SPARKLES!

I used shiney purple paper, on orange paper, with a stamped leaf image cut and glue-sticked on. Then added some sparkly tape, and rubbed a purple stamp-ink pad on the sides. The final inchie was glued onto cardstock from an Earl Grey tea box pulled  from the recycle bin.

2 ATCs

This is an ATC I did for a seahorse swap I just did on swap-bot.com. I wanted to do something a little bit more imaginative than my normal seahorse which I've done a million times, so I added another fish! He ended up being a betta fish, cus, why not? I think it turned out really cute. :D Plus, see the coral-stuff same as before?

This is a collage ATC I did about a week ago for a Halloween Cupcake ATC swap on swab-bot.com. The purple in the photo isn't quite so blue looking, I'm not sure how the colors got so messed up in this photo. Anyways, this was a lot of fun to do.

Some Drawings from this Summer

5x7 drawing I did about a month ago. I think this will be the back of my new business cards. :D

I drew this while staying at Cannon Beach, OR this August. Its about 5x7. I'm trying to scale up to larger drawings more often. Its different than drawing on a small tiny scale.

This is a Betta I started long ago, and finally finished in August, at Cannon Beach, OR. I'm proud of myself for drawing a sorta accurate betta fish without a reference. Yay! I also like how the "coral thing" turned out. It's a lot more interesting  and textured than the swirling seaweed I usually have in my fishy drawings. This drawing is about 3.5x4.5

Lots of Drawing!

This past weekend I have drawn several things! Not only that, but I actually collaged something. I usually don't feel like my collages ever look very good, but I'm proud of the one I did this Sunday evening.
It mostly has images I cut out of a book I got from our used book store. Seahorses included of course! I'm very proud of it. Its approx. 5x7 inches.

I also sorta collaged/drew this inchie set!
Inchies are mini art. 1x1 inches wide, it's a fun challenge to collage art that small.
I also finished my drawing of the pig and posted it to etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/94998311/paisley-pig-original-black-and-white-ink
Piggy! Yay! Please click on the image and view it in its proper size, it looks a billion times better! :)
And while watching the boys play Modern Warfare 3, I drew a zebra ATC for atcsforall.com.
ATC = Artist Trading Cards! 2.5x3.5 art that is perfect for trading. :)
And in church I drew this zentangley ACEO for etsy, I think spring should hurry up and come! I want the fresh green leaves! This one will be posted for sale on etsy sometime tomorrow I hope.
I also drew an all-colored zentangle on Friday. It doesn't have any black at all! I drew it while listening/after listening to my sis sing in her concert choir. It was all spring/happy songs that made me want spring. It's posted to etsy already.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/95061022/zentangle-in-red-original-ink-drawing?ref=v1_other_1
Its all red! And also brown and a really deep royal purple (that looks a bit too dark in this photo. Alas).

Venus Flytrap

I found this plant on etsy.com,
OK, so how cool is that? I want to buy a live venus flytrap! :)

This afternoon I started on a drawing of a pig. The form will be loosely based on a little statue of a pig my sister got on her mission trip to Haiti a couple summers ago.
A short stumpy pig, with a half-curl tail on the rump!
I can't wait to finish him. But in drawing his outline, I found my thin tiny detail Sakura Pigma pen is running out of ink. I hope I can buy a new one tomorrow or Wednesday. I can always print out one of Michaels 40% off coupons, so it'll be about only 2 bucks. Yay!
I also posted new art on ETSY! The oldish drawing of a seahorse aceo.
He's on my etsy shop.

Peacocks, Seahorses, and Octopi, Oh My!

I drew this awesome peacock feather! I just adore peacocks! They have all my favorite colors combined into opalescent awesomeness.
It's a proper 4x6 inches. :)
And I got some good ol' color into it. I'm not used to drawing with multiple colors! It takes different brain power.

A close up of the color. Pretty cool isn't it?
Not posted to my etsy yet, but will be tomorrow.

Instead, I posted this slightly older drawing of an octopus. Its ACEO size (2.5x3.5). :)
Swirly the Octopus, as named by Sister. :D
I think I drew him last week. Octopuses (octopodes, octopi, octopus) are fun to draw, cus of the eight swirling twirling curling legs. Yay!

AND last but not least, Wednesday night at prayer meeting I drew this seahorse ATC. It's for a trade on atcsforall.com.
BTW, for those of you who keep asking (VICKSTERS!!!), ATCs and ACEOs are "Artist Trading Cards", and "Art Card Editions and Originals." Basically, trading cards for artists! Always 2.5x3.5 inches, and no other rule besides that. The difference between ATC and ACEO is that ATCs are traded, and ACEOs are for selling/buying.

Merlin the Betta

I finally posted my betta ACEO drawing from before. It's my first colored drawing on etsy. :)
Here he is with a proper photo! For sale at my shop on Etsy.
I found out photos taken in the sun look awesome, but editing them is a huge pain because of the huge amount of glare that can sneak its way into the photos. Yikes. So I had to re-take some of the photos of this guy, but it sure was fun to stand around in the sun shining through the window! And most days around here are just cloudy, with the perfect amount of natural light coming through my window.

Mermaids

I drew a mermaid! She's on a 5x7" cardstock, which makes her the biggest drawing I've done. Though only by 0.5 inchs either side, but it looks and feels way bigger to me! I had to cut the cardstock myself, but I finally figured out how to use a razor and ruler to get the line perfectly measured and straight (without any of those ugly ridges from scissors). It's good to be excited over the little things, right?

Here's my mermaid. I particularly love how her hair, face, and shoulders turned out. (BTW, you can click on the image to see a bigger version)
I was able to take some photos, so I should be able to post Ms. Mermaid to etsy soon. I also got some good photos of my betta and eye drawings from before, so Ill post those for sale as well!

Drawing Dots

Hi All,
I did indeed get some drawing done tonight! Here are the photos taken in desk-lamp lighting (and one of Merlin). I'll have to take proper photos of them in daylight before posting them for sale on Etsy.

A drawing of my betta fish, Merlin. It's got a little bit of blue accent on the fins, and don't you just love the little dots all over his upper fin?
Merlin. He did not enjoy the camera being pointed at him. His top fin is half folded down, but the dots are all over the entire top fin, and a bit on the upper part of his tail. :)

Another eye drawing, curly lashes and all. The basic outline is somewhat based on an old ATC I drew and traded last October. Extra dots included!
Goodnight!
-Rachel

Hello!

Hello all!
My name is Rachel, I am an artist, and a wannabe writer (who uses a lot of smiley faces).
:)
I didn't draw anything today, at all. In fact I've barely done anything productive, though I did manage to post one of my previously photographed drawings onto etsy.com, the magical horse drawing. Of course, I already had the description for it from Wednesday, so actually that's not much of an accomplishment. But I plan on drawing a couple things tonight, and tomorrow I'll take photos of some more drawings. Hopefully we'll have a slight break from the rain sometime so the light will be bright enough? *crosses fingers*

I love his eye. If elves had horses, their horses would have pointy eyes like this.

I'm guessing my ACEOs are going to be the first things I sell, less to commit to for a brand-spankin'-new shop, right?

I also got my Betta, Merlin, back upstairs to my drawing desk! Maybe time for more (accurate...) betta drawings now? I just adore the spots on his top fin. He must be part Trill!
